FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Active Search Results?
Active Search Results (ASR) is an independent Internet Search Engine using a proprietary page ranking technology with Millions of popular Web sites indexed. ASR has its own spiders visiting Web sites daily that are submitted to ASR and crawlers that index other popular Web sites on the Internet. Active Search Results does not depend on nor utilize any other search engines or directories for its search results. All search results are contained within Active Search Results' indices and databases.

What is Active Search Results Page Ranking Technology? (ASR Ranking)
ASR Ranking allows search engines to rank Web page search results higher for websites where the owners or promoters of those websites have a history of performing actions or events defined as Activity.

The goal of ASR Ranking is to rank websites higher in organic search results where there are real active people supporting those websites that are displayed in the search engine results page (SERP).

For more details about ASR Ranking, please visit our About Page.

What is Activity?
Activity is an action or event that is performed by an owner or promoter of a website. Each activity event is recorded and used to increase the ASR ranking of the owner's or promoter's website.

Types of activity include:
  • submitting a website to the search engine regularly or as defined by the search engine
  • creating an account with the search engine
  • registering or opting-in to the search engine
  • logging into the Web site
  • keeping account information current
  • adding demographic information to the account
  • opening emails sent from the search engine or other affiliated Web sites
  • placing backlinks to the search engine from another Web site

This is just a subset of the different activities that are available. Also, activity is not limited to just the search engine. Activity can be recorded on sites that are affiliated with the search engine.

For more details about ASR Ranking, please visit our About Page.

  • Does Active Search Results display sponsored links on the main search results page?
No. Paid ranking and placement is not available on Active Search Results main search results page. Note: Featured Listings are not part of the main search results page.

Can I submit my Web site to Active Search Results without registering (opting-in)?
Yes. You can add the URL to your Web site without registering and Active Search Results will index your site. To do so, please visit Add Web Site. We do ask for an email address when submitting to help control search engine spamming. Please note that registering will give your website a higher ASR Ranking.

Why should I register with Active Search Results?
After registering with Active Search Results, you can view and manage your URLs that you have listed with us. You can re-submit your URLS, temporarily remove your URLs from the search engine (for example, while perfoming maintenance) and view dates on when the URL was first submitted, last submitted, first indexed, last indexed, first failed index, last failed index and the current index status of the URL. The main benefit to registering with ASR is that your websites will earn a higher ASR Ranking. For more details, please visit our About page.

What parts of a Web site does Active Search Results use to display in the search results?
Active Search Results' spiders will visit Web sites and index five different data parts from those sites.
